Man, this took me a while to get back to. Sorry about that. One day I shall be on top of things and it is getting closer to that day though it is still far off.
And yeah I agree that the Sabo theory needs a lot of work. XD I can't get behind it 100% myself because why wouldn't it trigger the hell out of him? Since seeing Ace's death triggered his memory then. (Though interesting thought there, Ace was notorious enough that Sabo must have been aware of him and his Wanted poster so he had to have seen him at least in picture before. Why he wasn't triggered then is likely because Ace was still alive.)
I wouldn't say that Zoro and Sanji filled a void-- because I don't really think there is a void in the traditional sense. Ace is still alive at this point and Sabo has been "dead" for so long that the wound has kind of healed over. I'm not even entirely sure if I agree with the idea that he relies on them the most. Of course I'll have to see as I go but I think he believes in everyone's ability to take care of themselves so he doesn't have to worry. They're his nakama so they're strong. And I think that Zoro and to some extent Sanji make sure that he doesn't have to worry but it's not something really acknowledged.
Also, like, though they are like his brothers I mean in terms that Luffy realizes that they love/care about him but the dynamic is different. Ace and Sabo looked after Luffy but they were always a step ahead in terms of strength and I think (at the moment at least) that Luffy looked up to them and, at least with Ace, got a lot of guidance from him of how to grow up. But he doesn't need nor look to Sanji or Zoro for that kind of guidance because he doesn't need it. Moreover instead of the dynamic where they're ahead of him, all three of them are more or less at the same level, with Luffy out in front.
It's perhaps a bit persnickity to bring it up but XD I really like to be precise.
There are so. many. characters. though. I tell you I'm going to die. (but it'll be worth it)
I don't really have enough about Dragon to formulate a theory. XD I mean it's quite possible he wasn't even around for Luffy's birth. Who knows? (Since we don't even know his mother yet. gdit)
But thanks for the grats and for always commenting! It means a lot to me even though I take a hell of a long time to comment back. It's been a rough year but hopefully 2016 will be better.
(also I tried to do the East Blue wrap up but I was just basically repeating everything I'd said and I got bored so then I was like I'm a pirate and I do what I want and moved on)
